The Democratic Alliance (DA) won control of its first local municipality, uMngeni, in KwaZulu-Natal during the 2021 Local Municipality Elections. Rian van Heerden chatted to uMngeni mayor-elect Chris Pappas on Jacaranda FM's The Scenic Drive with Rian. Pappas, 30 was elected as mayor while Sandile Mnikathi, 26, took the deputy mayor position. Pappas is not only one of the youngest mayors but is also fluent in isiZulu.
