The Marikana Commission of Inquiry continued today where it was said that the SA Police Service must be held accountable for the deaths and injuries of striking mineworkers at Marikana in North West in August 2012. During a violent and unprotected strike, officers opened fire on thousands of protesters.A total of 34 miners were killed at Lonmin's platinum mine in 2012. The commission is now in its final phase with closing arguments being heard this week from legal teams representing police, miners, unions and Lonmin.
