On the 25th of October 2017, a paramedic spotted a man running toward him in the parking lot of Brits Provincial Hospital. In his arms was the limp body of a young girl. Her name was Poppie van der Merwe and how she came to be deceased in her stepfather's arms was a story beyond comprehension.
