Walter Sisulu University Student, Sibongile Mani, has been sentenced to five years' direct imprisonment for the theft of National Student Financial Aid Scheme funds. Mani was found guilty of stealing R818 000 after R14 million was accidentally transferred into her account on 1 June 2017. Many people are NOT happy with Sibongile Mani’s sentence. In your opinion, what would have been a fair punishment for someone spending R 818 000 meant for poor students on luxury items and alcohol? Why do you say that?
