In the Western Cape, more than 40% of all waste delivered to landfills is organic, and as it decomposes, it releases the extremely harmful greenhouse gas, methane. With the first phase of the province’s new Organic Landfill Ban in effect from this year, residents need to start thinking about how to dispose of their food waste in an environmentally friendly way. And for those who live near Sea Point, Constantia, or the Gardens, there is a simple solution with the Ladles of Love’s Feed the Soil programme.
