“Don’t underestimate me because I’m quiet. I know more than I say, think more than I speak and observe more than you know.” – Michaela Chung
I think this quote captures what I see as the essence of Sis Zodwa. Her ‘not too loud’ nature may have you overlook her for the charismatic and vocal in our society. But not me. She has qualities that embody wisdom, one of which is intellectual humility which is endearing.

The best advice she says, came from her father who said: “In life you have to remember that to whom much is given, much is expected. You can never be a shining star on your own. You do need other stars around you. It is better for aesthetics and for everybody. It would provide light when you got other stars surrounding you. A galaxy is better than a
single star.” What a gem!

Sis Zodwa Matsau is an Independent Non-Executive Director at PSG Konsult Ltd and Bidvest Bank. She was previously employed as a Head for Money & Economics by Central Bank of Lesotho and Company Secretary. She has retired after her role as a Senior Deputy General Manager-Financial Markets by South African Reserve Bank. She
received her undergraduate degree from The National University of Lesotho and a graduate degree from the University of Glasgow.

Sis Zodwa is our hidden gem from South Africa. A person of few words. But has pearls of wisdom to share that are simple and practical. I hope this conversation has inspired you.
