• The comrades marathon association had opened a special three-day window for entries which closed officially this weekend. Earlier last week, the association re-opened the entries after a number of runners who had missed the initial entry period requested to be given a chance.

• Deputy president David Mabuza has spoken publicly of his desire to resign as deputy president of the country. President Ramaphosa has accepted his resignation but asked him to stay for now. Mabuza, was who was not re-elected for a second term as ANC deputy president, says he has to make space for his replacement, Paul Mashatile.
