Yesterday the European parliament formally approved a law to ban the sale of new gas and diesel cars in the European union. The new legislation, billed for 2035 is meant to combat climate change and speed up the transition to electric vehicles.

• Multichoice has announced the annual price increase for South African DSTV subscribers. The increase comes into effect from 1 April 2023.

• Pharrell Williams is said to be replacing Virgil Abloh as Louis Vuitton head designer for menswear. He’s re-branded beautifully from music to fashion.

• As South Africa's food prices continue to climb at the fastest rate since 2009, the competition watchdog has launched an inquiry into the market for fresh produce. The focus will be on apples, bananas, oranges and other citrus produce, pears, avocados, grapes and nuts, along with vegetables such as potatoes, onions, tomatoes, sweetcorn, carrots and cabbage.
