It was a long walk to freedom for Nelson Mandela, but it’s just a short drive to immortality for FW De Klerk.
Table Bay Boulevard will be renamed FW de Klerk Boulevard following a public participation process in which "prominent Capetonians" including premier Helen Zille and Archbishop emeritus Desmond Tutu wrote to the city proposing the name change.
However, not all parties are welcoming this change. ANC and Cosatu are against it as they “he was not a messiah” during the apartheid struggle.
