Today, Cape Town mayor Patricia de Lille's office said the proposal to rename Table Bay Boulevard to FW de Klerk Boulevard will go ahead. According to the city's naming policy, citizens of Cape Town and South Africa may be considered in their lifetime if they have received international recognition of the highest kind.The mayor's offices say that former president FW de Klerk fell within that category, however, the ANC and COSATU say that he was not a messiah for the struggle.
