Owned by the local community of the Mamaila Kolobetona Traditional Authority, the Lodge was opened on 26 September 2015 as a showcase of a modern community-owned tourism enterprise.

Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) is a schedule 3c parastatal mandated in terms of Limpopo Tourism Act of 2009 to market the province as a tourist destination.

Limpopo is South Africa’s most northern province of the nine, bordering Mozambique to the East, Zimbabwe to the north and Botswana to the west. It is an area of great contrasts in terms of the variety of landscapes, scenery and climate.

The destination is home to three national parks, the famed Kruger National Park, Mapungubwe National Park and Marakele National Park and 43 provincial nature reserves, as well as private game reserves boasting an assortment of wildlife and nature experiences.
Its rich historical heritage sites include rock art and engravings for special interest visitors. The destination offers an abundant diversity of ethnic and cultural experiences.

Limpopo is the most culturally diverse destination in South Africa with four indigenous ethnic groups calling this destination home.
