Striking workers at Gold One mine in Springs have vowed to fight any attempts by mine management to distract their mission. Workers who want the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) recognised as a union at the mine say those who are underground are there willingly, and that no one is holding them hostage. The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) - which has been the only recognised union at the mine - allege the miners are being held against their will. The situation has gotten tense, with many questioning whose responsibility it is to resolve the issue. The team discussed whether unions are fighting for their members or just another point of politics.
