A pug puppy facing euthanasia will be getting a second chance thanks to the kindness of Hot1027 listeners.

"Slurpy" was brought to the Blue Bush Animal Clinic about a month ago , severely underweight and almost non-responsive.

After running a series of tests, the vets diagnosed this 6 month-old pup with
"portosystemic shunt".

It causes inflammation of the brain due to a build up of waste products in the bloodstream.

In a heartbreaking turn of events , Dr Natasha Ross says Slurpy's owner had to give her up.

Natasha says at this stage it's euthanasia , or specialist surgery.
