The Long March To Freedom

The Long March to Freedom is a monumental procession of 100 life-size sculptures in bronze, telling the story of South Africa’s 350 year journey to democracy through the lives of the individuals so vividly depicted.

It is the only exhibition of its kind anywhere in the world and has been 12 years in the making. Each artwork shows South African and international icons, some famous and others unknown, all of whom have passed. The procession starts in the 1600’s and ends in 1994. It also tells the story of South Africa’s diverse history and many cultures.
