Tormentor of the All Blacks: Springbok hero Marius Joubert

Loading player...
In 2001 Marius Joubert made his Springbok debut and was injured before the final whistle blew. That match was against the All Blacks and as it turned out both the New Zealanders and injuries would ultimately define his career. At his best he was a skilful outside centre, full of flair and devastating pace. Marius formed an effective centre combination with De Wet Barry. His brilliance was on full display against the kiwis in the 2004 Tri-Nations at Ellis Park when he became only the second Springbok to score a hat-trick against the All Blacks. South Africa would go on to win the Tri-Nations that year but sadly for Joubert his Test career was over approximately one year later. Owing to injuries he missed out on two World Cup appearances. In this candid conversation he looks back and speaks honestly and openly about his memorable career that came to an end too soon. Despite the setbacks, no one can deny that Marius Joubert made his mark in the Springbok jersey!
