Residents went around the community demanding owners close their shops close to where the five children died. The children are believed to have eaten the snacks while playing and when they returned to their homes, they all fell ill. A sixth child is fighting for his life in hospital. “The problem is they are selling rotten food that makes us sick. Now children have died,” said a resident. Phemelo speaks to Operation Dudula National Organiser Davis Magolego, Regional Health Deputy Director in the City of Joburg Ntsiki Letsosa, MMC for Public Safety Safety in the City of Joburg Dr Mgcini Tshwaku and residents of Soweto.
