Parliament conducts oversight visits in the Eastern Cape

The Portfolio Committee on Communications and Digital Technologies has been assessing the impact of the Department of Communication and Digital Technologies together with Government Communication and Information Systems (GCIS) in the Alfred Nzo and OR Tambo district municipalities during a four-day oversight visit to the Eastern Cape. The Constitution of the Republic of South Africa states that Parliament has the power to conduct oversight of all organs of state, including those at provincial and local government level. Also, Parliament and its committees have powers to summon any person or institution to give evidence or produce documents, and to report to them. Phemelo speaks to the Portfolio Chairperson, Khusela Diko.
