The global trend of using diabetes drug Semaglutide for weight loss has taken off in South Africa and is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after drugs in the country. Popularised by various international celebrities, it quickly became one of the most talked about weight loss aids on social media, with thousands of people rushing to get their hands on it. Although the medications under the Semaglutide umbrella were initially developed to treat type 2 diabetes and have not yet been registered in South Africa for weight management, many now turn to it to help speed up their weight loss process.
