The South African National Parks has told reporters in Cape Town that an arsonist was responsible for one in a series of fires that hit the Cape Peninsula in recent weeks. The Scarborough fire was deliberately set alight on private property. The Cape Peninsula fires are reported to have caused infrastructural damage of approximetely R6-million. SANParks and the City of Cape Town are conducting independent investigations.
