Hundreds of parents flocked to schools in an attempt to secure last-minute enrolment for their children. Gauteng EducationMEC Matome Chiloane officially opened the Braamfischer Primary School in Soweto on day one of the new academic year. The department has so far placed over 325,000 new applications as schools reopened on Wednesday. Phemelo speaks to Chiloane about how the first day of school went in the province.
