The true Islamic state and the true role of maqasid, goals & principles shariah

The past weekend I attended a colloquium hosted by International Peace College of SA (IPSA) that focused on Khilafah. The session included talks from the likes of Amb Ebrahim Rasool, Anwah Nagia and our special guest in studio, Dr Jasser Auda. For those who may not be familiar with him, Professor Jasser Auda is a member of the European Council for Fatwa and Research, a founding member and Head of the Dawah Committee at the International Union of Muslim Scholars, and teaches at the Faculty of Islamic Studies in Doha. He lectured on Islam and its law and ethics in dozens of universities and institutes around the world, and wrote a number of books, some of which were translated to fifteen languages.
