Springboks Bomb Squad Under Fire … Again!
Loading player...
The Springboks have successfully exploited rugby replacements laws with what has become an infamous 6-2 and even 7-1 forwards-backs split on their bench. This strategy has become known as the Bomb Squad. Many are in awe but there are also those who find fault. Former Scotland coach Matt Williams has been particularly outspoken on what the Springboks do and now, he has found a way to work the Boks into his match analysis of a fixture that did not even involve South Africa! In fact, it's a game that was played in a competition that the Springboks don't even play in. In this episode Peter examines what Williams had to say, breaks down the mechanics of the Bomb Squad, why others have tried recently in vain to copy it, and why it is not going away ... despite men like Williams, and even former World Rugby chairman Bill Beaumont, calling for fewer replacements in rugby.
