Thapelo Seemise, popularly known as TIPS—an acronym for Through Inspiration People Succeed—and affectionately called Tips Shampoo or Shampoonaiza, is one of South Africa’s most celebrated sports comedians. With over 11 years on SABC’s Sport@10, he has become a household name thanks to his sharp wit, charismatic interviews, and engaging commentary.
A true multi-talented entertainer, Shampoonaiza wears many hats: he is a sports influencer, choreographer, voice artist, motivational speaker, master of ceremonies, and actor. His acting credits include roles in acclaimed films and television series such as Taxi Ride, Last Born Does the Lorries (a two-time SAFTA winner), Next of Next Week, Matwetwe, and Rosa.
Under his entertainment company, TIPSNTONES Entertainment, Shampoonaiza curates and hosts the popular Shampoonaiza and Friends Comedy shows—high-energy comedy events that feature both veteran comedians and up-and-coming talent from across the country. Each show revolves around a unique theme that consistently connects with audiences, helping him sell out venues nationwide.
For over a decade, Tips has remained South Africa’s leading—if not only—sports comedian, with humor that appeals across generations. His universal charm even earned him the honor of being the opening act for the renowned gospel ensemble Joyous Celebration, performing with them from albums 20 through 24.
A trusted name in the world of sports entertainment, Tips is SABC’s go-to presenter and comedian. He has hosted major international sporting events including the FIFA World Cup, Olympic Games, and Paralympic Games—each on three separate occasions. His contributions also extend to local platforms like the PSL Awards, SA Sports Awards, Boxing Awards, and the MTN8 Tournament.
Tips' reputation for professionalism and reliability is reflected in the long-standing relationships he maintains with high-profile brands and institutions. His resume as an MC includes prestigious events such as:
SA Freedom Celebration
GovTech Golf
Golf Cloud 9
Department of Public Enterprises
National Treasury
