Did you know that in 2022, viral hepatitis (mainly B and C) caused an estimated 1.3 million deaths worldwide, making it the second-leading infectious, according to World Health Organization.
That equates to roughly 3,500 deaths per day , about 83% of these deaths were due to hepatitis B, and 17% due to hepatitis C.
Chronic hepatitis B and C silently cause liver damage and cancer, despite them being preventable, treatable, and, in the case of hepatitis C, curable. Join Tlotlang Moletsane with Dr Portia Mashaba and stay informed!
