Today’s bird call is Levaillant’s Cisticola. The characteristic call is often given from the tops of reeds or other waterside vegetation, making them quite easy to spot. Levaillant’s Cisticola was named after the early French naturalist and ornithologist, Francois Levaillant, who travelled around South Africa in the late 1700s, observing and collecting bird specimens.
