The Forum for South Africa (FOSA) has issued a strong condemnation of Minister Cachalia, accusing him of shielding individuals implicated in corruption instead of confronting wrongdoing. The organization described the Minister’s actions as two-faced and said they undermine the fight against crime and corruption in the country.
According to FOSA, South Africans deserve leaders who act with integrity and hold wrongdoers accountable, without fear or favour. The group warned that Minister Cachalia’s conduct erodes public trust and perpetuates a culture of impunity that threatens governance and law enforcement.
FOSA also expressed concern that the Minister’s actions could complicate the work of the police, claiming that his presence in office is counterproductive. The group referenced Cachalia’s recent criticism of Lieutenant General Mkhwanazi for holding a media briefing as an example of his alleged bias.
The Forum called on Acting Minister Cachalia to prioritize the interests of South African citizens and take decisive action against corruption. Failure to do so, FOSA said, would confirm that he is unfit to hold office.
