The Eskom Expo for Young Scientists brought together some of Johannesburg's brightest young minds to showcase their innovative research projects under this year’s theme ‘’Future of SA Science Is in Good Hands’’ at the Wits Flower Hall.
Participants, ranging from Grade 4 to matric learners, presented projects addressing real-world challenges, demonstrating creativity and scientific inquiry. These projects were among the top 50 selected from over 700 entries in district science fairs. The event's goal was to identify a cohort of projects to represent Johannesburg at the upcoming International Science Fair, scheduled for October 6–10 at Emperors Palace Conference Centre. Participants will compete against peers from countries such as Mexico, Ghana, Indonesia, and Lesotho.
The Eskom Expo for Young Scientists serves as a platform to nurture young talent, encouraging them to think critically and innovatively. By focusing on community challenges and employing scientific methods to devise solutions, these students exemplify the potential of South Africa's future scientific endeavors.
The nation's commitment to advancing science and technology through education and mentorship.
To speak to us about the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists which was hosted at the Wits Flower Hall is Raven Motsewabangwe, Provincial co-ordinator at Eskom Expo For Young Scientists.
