Tshwane Ya Tima Switches Off Properties Owing Millions

The City of Tshwane is cracking down on serial defaulters. Mayor Dr Nasiphi Moya led the Ya Tima team through the CBD, disconnecting power at a student residence owing R6-million, a Sunnyside block bypassing its meter, and even a shopping mall that had already been cut off earlier this year. In total, R25-million is owed by businesses and property owners. “We can’t keep chasing the same offenders,” Moya said. She speaks to Phemelo about the operation and service delivery in the city of Tshwane.
