IN CONVERSATION WITH KINGSOL CHABALALA

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Gauteng is staging a picket in Emfuleni today, Thursday, 18 September 2025, to protest against cadre deployment, which the party says has contributed to the collapse of service delivery in the municipality.
The demonstration, led by DA Provincial Leader Solly Msimanga MPL, together with Kingsol Chabalala MPL, Cllr Dady Mollo, and Cllr Prudence Hlanyane, began at 10h00 with a gathering at the Rivers of Living Waters Church in Evaton. From there, participants are expected to move to the Levai Mbata Clinic.
The DA argues that cadre deployment—where political appointments are based on party loyalty instead of merit—has fueled corruption, inefficiency, and poor governance in local municipalities such as Emfuleni. Today’s action forms part of the party’s broader campaign to push for a merit-based appointment system and improved accountability in government.
