The Embassy of Japan in South Africa has announced that applications are now open for the 2026 intake of the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program, a life-changing opportunity for young South African graduates to live and work in Japan as Assistant Language Teachers.
At a time when youth unemployment in South Africa remains high, this program offers a unique pathway for young professionals to gain international work experience, develop global competencies, and represent South Africa abroad while earning a competitive salary. Since 1997, nearly 1,000 South Africans have participated, helping to strengthen cultural and educational ties between Japan and South Africa.
