One Year In: DA’s Brink Says Tshwane Deserves Better

It’s been a year since the ANC-led coalition took the reins in Tshwane - but not everyone’s celebrating. DA mayoral candidate Cilliers Brink is sounding the alarm, saying little has improved under Mayor Nasiphi Moya's multiparty government. Brink has criticised the lack of progress in key service delivery issues, particularly clean water access in Hammanskraal. He claims the vital Rooiwal Wastewater Treatment Plant refurbishment has stalled, and water tanker costs have exploded from R170 million to R500 million. Brink also raised questions around corruption accountability, pointing to delayed action against companies linked to Edwin Sodi. With a growing outcry over dirty water and stalled infrastructure, Brink insists the DA has a plan to finish what was started. Phemelo spoke with Cilliers Brink to unpack his views.
