Marking a year since taking office, Tshwane Mayor Dr Nasiphi Moya spoke with Phemelo about her administration’s milestones - particularly in stabilising the metro’s finances. “We’re not just talking about plans, we’re seeing results,” Moya said, highlighting that Tshwane has, for the first time in years, tabled a fully funded budget. She also noted progress on Eskom debt, down from R6.7 billion to R5.6 billion, and improved credit ratings from Moody’s and Global Credit Ratings. On service delivery, the mayor acknowledged there’s still work to be done but said infrastructure repairs and efforts to secure water supply are underway, despite sabotage setbacks. Roads, substations, and reservoirs are receiving attention, and her administration remains committed to rebuilding.
