Venezuela Slams ‘Military Provocation’ as US Warship Docks in Trinidad

Venezuela has accused the United States and Trinidad and Tobago of “military provocation” after a US guided-missile destroyer, the USS Gravely, docked in Port of Spain. The visit forms part of US President Donald Trump’s broader effort to pressure President Nicolás Maduro, whom he accuses - without evidence - of ties to organised crime. Caracas, however, has blasted the move as an attempt to “fabricate a new eternal war.” Officials in Trinidad insist the warship’s stay is routine and linked to joint training exercises, though regional analysts say tensions between Washington and Caracas are clearly rising.
