‘I Did Not Plan or Kill the Cradock Four’ - Craig Williamson Tells Court

Former apartheid spy Craig Williamson has taken the stand and he’s denying everything. “I wish to emphatically deny that I had any involvement in the planning or killing of the Cradock Four,” he told the Gqeberha High Court this week, dismissing the allegations as “nonsense.” Williamson, once a double agent posing as an anti-apartheid activist, infiltrated the ANC and SACP in the 1970s and 80s and has long been linked to the dark machinery of apartheid-era assassinations. The Cradock Four - Matthew Goniwe, Fort Calata, Sicelo Mhlauli, and Sparrow Mkonto - were brutally murdered in 1985, their bodies found burned near Bluewater Bay. Now, decades later, the families are still fighting for justice. Nzinga Qunta speaks to Fort Calata’s son, Lukhanyo Calata, about the long road to truth and accountability.
