For five years, explorer Riaan Manser has taken South African learners to one of the most remote classrooms on Earth - Antarctica. Now, that once-in-a-lifetime experience is opening to students across Africa through the expanded Students in Antarctica (SIA) programme. Grade 11 learners have until 19 November 2024 to enter for a chance to join the expedition, which includes travel, gear, scientific exploration, environmental clean-ups and close-up lessons in sustainability. Among this year’s standout entrants is Aaminah Choonara from Lenasia Muslim School, who has already made it into the top ten. An unforgettable educational journey awaits the winners, one that blends adventure, science and conservation at the bottom of the world.
