From Tragedy to Triumph: Gershom Ntimane's Journey of Faith
On JustGospel with Carlett, award-winning gospel artist Gershom Ntimane shared his remarkable testimony proving that God truly does new things in impossible situations.
A Life-Altering Moment
Born in Mpumalanga's Bushbuck Ridge, Gershom began singing at age 14, accepting Jesus in 1999. Raised by a single mother who became disabled during pregnancy, he pursued civil engineering at Bloemfontein. On June 11, 2010—during World Cup celebrations—a horrific accident crushed his ankle just two days after his first son's birth.
Doctors said he would never walk again. His swollen leg delayed surgery for two weeks while teams considered amputation. His pastor Dr. Ngomane shared Isaiah 43:19: "See, I am about to do a new thing."
The Miracle
Before surgery, anesthesiologists asked Gershom to move one toe. After repeatedly reading his scripture and asking God about this "new thing," one small toe moved. He screamed with joy. God made him walk again—both physically and spiritually. Today, no one would believe he survived such trauma.
Compounded Challenges
Post-accident, Gershom faced divorce during his recovery. Losing everything, he questioned God but remembered his covenant and Isaiah 43:19. He discovered "walking again" meant spiritual renewal beyond physical restoration.
Recent Recognition
On December 7, Gershom won Artist of the Year at the 12th Mpumalanga Gospel Music Awards (MGOMA), receiving a VW T-Cross. His testimony changed from a written-off vehicle in 2010 to receiving a new car in 2024. Since 2018, he's accumulated 14 awards including Crown Gospel Awards—accolades representing Christ working through his gift.
Marketplace Ministry
As a civil engineer leading a road division, Gershom views his career as calling—removing obstacles so people reach destiny. He never runs meetings without prayer or blessings, using his workplace as ministry platform.
Keys to Perseverance
Gershom sought mentors who understood his struggles: Bishop Benjamin Dube, Dr. David Mulapo, Pastor Goodman Mugwena, and Dr. Ngomane. Prayer kept him anchored, learned from his prayerful mother. He focused on God's goodness rather than pain: "As long as I breathe, I will give God praises."
2026 Vision
Gershom is recording his second project, "The Jesus I've Touched: Be Still," and continuing wheelchair outreach programs honoring his disabled mother's memory.

Discover your season—God called you to your specific space. Prayers of faith never expire. God honors faith aligned with purpose. The Lord's blessing brings wealth without sorrow—meaning legacy, disciples, and Christ's love, not just money.
