Tshwane revenue drive sparks clash with Correctional Services
Loading player...
Tshwane’s hardline revenue collection campaign has landed the metro in a standoff with the Department of Correctional Services. Mayor Nasiphi Moya and city officials recently targeted government-owned buildings in arrears, including the Kgosi Mampuru and Baviaanspoort correctional facilities, said to owe the metro around R8 million. Attempts to disconnect electricity at the facilities drew sharp criticism from the department, which says the move was rushed and poorly investigated. The city, however, insists no one is above the law. Phemelo is joined by MMC for Human Settlements, Aaron Maluleka.
