Diplomatic tensions are simmering after United States Ambassador to South Africa Leo Brent Bozell III described the chant “Kill the Boer” as hate speech during a speech in Hermanus. The Department of International Relations has since moved to formally demarche the ambassador, reminding diplomats to respect established protocols when engaging on sensitive issues.
