Conflict in Iran mean fertilizer prices are rising here at home - just as spring planting begins

Farmers are facing soaring fertilizer prices and possible shortages just as spring planting gets underway, after the war in Iran disrupted supplies moving through the Strait of Hormuz. Prices are up more than 30 per cent and some retailers are already running out, raising concerns this could hurt crop yields — and eventually food prices — if fertilizer doesn’t arrive in time.
