
South Africa Disinvited from G7 Summit

President Cyril Ramaphosa will not attend the G7 summit in Evian this June. France withdrew South Africa’s invitation under pressure from the United States, which reportedly threatened to boycott the meeting if SA was included. Tensions between South Africa and the US have been rising since last November, when former US President Donald Trump barred South Africa from the next G20 summit in Miami and threatened to halt all financial support.
