π CYBER SENSE ALERT: Data Breaches β When Your Information Is Out There and You Don't Even Know It π
Major South African companies have been hacked β TransUnion, Experian, Eskom, Pick n Pay, and more. Your ID number, address, phone number, and passwords may already be on the dark web.
Your Data Breach Survival Plan:
ASSUME YOUR DATA IS ALREADY OUT THERE. This isn't paranoia β it's reality. Act accordingly.
CHECK IF YOU'VE BEEN BREACHED. Visit haveibeenpwned.com (it's free and legit). Enter your email. Check your family too.
CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS IMMEDIATELY. If you're in a breach, change that password and any other account using the same one.
TURN ON 2FA EVERYWHERE. Your second line of defence. Email, banking, social media β do it all.
BE EXTRA SKEPTICAL. Scammers have your info now. A call with your name and ID is still a scam. Verify through a second channel.
CONSIDER A CREDIT CHECK. Put a fraud alert on your profile with TransUnion or Experian to stop fraudsters opening accounts in your name.
Bottom Line: Your data is already out there. Protect your accounts, not your privacy.
Stay safe out there!
