South Africa’s immigration debate has become increasingly polarised, with many feeling forced to choose between supporting stronger border enforcement or rejecting xenophobia. But is there a middle ground? Can we demand effective immigration laws, insist that government fixes a broken Home Affairs system, and reject violence and discrimination at the same time?
