As Canada looks for new ways to strengthen its economy and reduce its dependence on the United States, one idea gaining attention is the creation of new east-west pipelines. Alberta and Ontario's premiers are proposing a pipeline to carry western Canada's oil to the east. Heather Exner-Pirot, Senior Fellow and Director of Energy, Natural Resources and Environment at the Macdonald-Laurier Institute in Ottawa, joins the show to bring us up to speed on this announcement and what it could mean for Saskatchewan and the rest of the country.
