The Faith of the Israelites – Passing Through the Red Sea

In this episode of Radio Cape Pulpit, Rodney Brown continues his series of meditations on Hebrews 11, focusing on the faith of the Israelites as they passed through the Red Sea (Exodus 14). He reads from Exodus 14, where the Israelites, having just been liberated from Egypt, found themselves trapped between the pursuing Egyptian army and the Red Sea. They were terrified, but Moses told them: “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord.” God caused a strong east wind to part the waters, and the Israelites walked through on dry ground, with walls of water on either side. Rodney connects this Old Testament miracle to the greater spiritual miracle of salvation in Christ. Just as Pharaoh could not prevent the exodus, the devil cannot prevent the resurrection of Christ – the mighty power of God that raised Jesus from the dead (Ephesians 1:19–20). He explains that salvation is not by works, but by faith (Ephesians 2:8–9). The Egyptians, who lacked faith, perished in the sea, but all who trust in Christ can be set free from the bondage of sin. He ends with an invitation to place your trust in Jesus and a contact email: rodwbrown@gmail.com.
