White Shark Projects is a double Fair Trade Tourism-certified marine conservation and ecotourism organisation based in Gansbaai, South Africa. Since 1989, the organisation has combined responsible marine tourism with conservation, environmental education, research support, and community development initiatives that create lasting impact. Home to one of South Africa's longest-running international volunteer programmes, established in 1994, White Shark Projects has welcomed thousands of volunteers from around the world to contribute to marine conservation and community projects. Its award-winning Recycling Swop Shop, now in its 19th year, promotes environmental awareness and responsible waste management while supporting thousands of young people and families within the Gansbaai community. Through meaningful marine experiences, youth development programmes, and conservation-focused tourism, White Shark Projects inspires visitors to become ambassadors for ocean conservation while helping build a more sustainable future for both people and the planet.
