The notorious tender don Vusimusi ‘Cat’ Matlala and his co-accused are expected back in the dock of the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg this Thursday for their attempted murder trial. Confusion, shouting and shoving occurred in the courtroom on Tuesday when police officials, including members of the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT), forced the accused back to the holding cells without allowing them to consult their lawyers first. We break down the visuals of the chaos in court. In our exclusive feature story in this edition, apartheid’s ‘Dr Shock’ has died in Canada at the age of 87. Which means that, to this day, disgraced doctor Aubrey Levin has never faced a South African commission for his crimes. Plus, four other stories you may’ve missed in the week thus far, including a preview of the Springboks’ big All Blacks showdown in Baltimore in the US – you’re tuned in to News24’s Unread this Thursday with your host, broadcast journalist Graeme Raubenheimer. Expect fresh shows twice a week. This show has been carefully produced, presented and edited by Raubenheimer, News24 visual director Wynand Louw, and video journalists Luke Daniel, Storm Simpson and Chelsea Ogilvie.
