Mandisa Zitha, Festival Director of the Encounters South African International Documentary Festival, has dedicated much of her career to championing independent filmmaking and creating platforms for authentic African stories. A graduate of the University of Cape Town with a BA in Film and Media Studies, majoring in Documentary, Zitha first worked at Encounters between 2007 and 2012 before returning as Festival Director in 2019. Her career has also included roles at UCT and Wesgro, but her passion for documentary filmmaking ultimately brought her back to the festival.
