Your voice is something we use every single
day, but how often do we actually stop to think about how
we’re looking after it? Whether you’re a singer, presenter,
student, teacher or simply someone who uses their voice
throughout the day, vocal health plays an important role in
communication. Joining us this morning are Tshepang
Nkomo and Phumelelo “Phume” Malinga, both fourth- year
Speech Language Pathology students at the University of
the Witwatersrand. Their clinical experience has exposed
them to different communication and swallowing
challenges, while they are now gaining experience
specifically in voice impairments and rehabilitation. This
morning, we’re talking about understanding our voices,
recognising when something may be wrong and learning
how to take better care of our vocal cords.
