The Compassionate Friends: A lifeline for parents who’ve lost a child

Losing a child can leave parents and families facing a kind of grief that few people around them understand.

But a Johannesburg organisation wants bereaved families to know they don’t have to navigate that loss alone.

The Compassionate Friends have been supporting grieving parents, grandparents and siblings here in Johannesburg for more than four decades — with counselling provided by people who’ve experienced the death of a child themselves.

And crucially, help is freely available even if you can’t get to their centre.
