Hanneke Van Linge founded NOSH Food Rescue NPC after taking over a weekly soup kitchen in Krugersdorp West in 2015, where she witnessed the scale of food waste firsthand. Today, NOSH rescues surplus food from retailers, agricultural producers and other sources, redistributing it to soup kitchens, shelters and feeding schemes. In 2020, she also co-founded Chefs with Compassion, an initiative that mobilises chefs and the hospitality industry to transform surplus food into nutritious meals for people in need.
A passionate environmental and food activist, Hanneke is a member of Slow Food and established the Food Waste Warriors community to raise awareness about food waste, hunger and food justice. She is also involved in permaculture, community gardening and sustainability initiatives, driven by a commitment to reducing waste and making quality nutrition accessible to vulnerable communities.
